Plot summary
Professor Chua See Kiat holds a doctorate in microbiology, but he is retrenched and every attempt at a new job comes to nothing, so he starts driving a taxi. Lee Ah Tau, a veteran driver, steps in to help him and becomes his first passenger. The two men differ in schooling, temperament, attitudes and the languages they speak, and they do not begin as friends. Chua keeps the work from his wife and mother-in-law, who do not know how he earns a living now. Out on the road he meets difficult customers, including one who refuses to pay the fare. Both men have sons, Jonah Chua and Lee Jia Jia, and Ah Tau rents a room to Regina.

- While making Taxi! Taxi!, YouTube personality Chua Jin Sen, known online as Dr Jia Jia, grew frustrated at having to redo scenes many times; his mother said he thought the repeated takes were his fault and that watching it was painful for her.
