Plot summary
Delphine, the only child of Limousin farmers, works the land with her parents, and her father hopes she will marry. She is secretly seeing a local girl, who tells her at a rendezvous that she means to marry and that the two of them were not serious. Delphine runs off to Paris. On a street there she helps a woman who is being attacked by a man and learns that her name is Carole. Carole's friends belong to a feminist collective, and Delphine joins their protests. When the group learns that a member's friend, a gay man, has been sent by his family to a mental institution, Delphine talks the others into helping free him. That night, Delphine kisses Carole.
