Plot summary
Step is set in Baltimore, where a girls' high school runs a step team and its seniors are chasing two prizes at once: a step championship and a place in college. The all-female school has made it its aim that every member of the senior class is accepted to college and graduates, and many of those students would be the first in their families to do so. Blessin Giraldo, Cori Grainger and Tayla Solomon are among the seniors, supported by teachers, teammates, counselors, coaches and their families. Their last year plays out as the city around them faces social unrest.
