Plot summary
In the near future, girls from 14 to 16 are falling ill with a bizarre, worldwide malady. A victim passes through a spell of giddiness, known as Near Death Happiness, and then dies. Minutes later she comes back as a flesh-eating zombie, a Stacy. The government has formed the Romero Repeat-Kill Troops, poorly trained units that patrol on garbage trucks and are ordered to dispose of the Stacies. The law allows no one but a Stacy's loved ones or those troops to kill her again, in a procedure called a Repeat-Kill. Researchers find that the Butterfly Twinkle Powder gathering on a Stacy's skin is central to the phenomenon.
