Plot summary
Eight years after the death of her mother Meera, Rhea Kumar divides her time between Spirit of India, the restaurant where she works with her father Arvind, her brother Rohan and her grandmother Asha, and school, where her friends are Watson, Molly and Ginger. When Ginger's DJ drops out of the homecoming fundraiser, a Festival of Colors drawn from Holi, Rhea recommends Max, a DJ in her class. He plays the event and offers to return the favor; she asks him to teach her the turntable. At a vinyl store he shows her what each part of the turntable does, and DJ Luka Cent gives them flyers for a contest, Battle of the Beatmasters. Rhea practices at Max's house, and she begins turning up late for her shifts at the restaurant.
