Plot summary
Arjang is born in Iran before the revolution and grows up in love with Roya, the girl he has known since childhood. Roya does not like Islam, so she leaves for America, and he intends to go after her. The army conscripts him into the Iran-Iraq war instead. He also tries to leave on a fake passport and is stopped. Revolution and war, poverty and wealth, and the end of his first marriage fill the decades that follow, and Roya brings him trouble through much of it. Years on, he and Roya meet again, and he is still in love with her.
