Plot summary

Carol is shy and keeps to herself at the office. A music therapist urges her to open up about what she feels, and she does it by writing pop songs about the people around her, friends and co-workers alike, and singing them where those people can hear. The songs are confessional and scathingly honest, each aimed at someone she knows. Her song about Dave, her boss, gets her fired and, at the same time, stirs a dream he had given up on, of being a rock star. The two of them set off on a stretch of creative discovery, and neither may get far without the other's help.
