Plot summary
Grisha spends his nights in nightclubs and expects his father Pavel, a wealthy Moscow businessman, to settle every problem he causes. After an accident involving the police, Pavel searches for a way to change him. Anastasia, a television producer and Pavel's friend, puts him in touch with Lev, an eccentric psychologist whose harsh methods of rehabilitation almost always work. With Pavel's money they rebuild an abandoned village as a 19th century landowner's estate, set in the summer of 1860, shortly before serfdom was abolished, and fill it with actors. Grisha loses consciousness in a crash arranged by his father and wakes in a stable there, a serf and horse groom who is afraid of horses. Cameras watch his every move.
