Plot summary
Adam Hudson, a teenager, spends the summer vacation in Thunder Bay with his upper middle-class parents, on the rugged shore of Lake Superior. His days are routine until he meets Riley and Nate, cousins from a working-class family who are staying with their grandmother and, with time on their hands, take up wild behavior and reckless cliff jumping. Adam's friend Taylor joins them now and then, and the boys become inseparable, though the friendship stays uneasy, strained by bullying, jealousy and the hormonal tensions of their age. The stunts they attempt on the cliffs grow bolder as the summer goes on.
