Plot summary
In a Punjab village, the Panchayat has run out of patience with Happy Singh, whose helpfulness keeps ending in damage. News arrives that Lakhanpal Singh, a man from the village who has become a crime boss in Australia, should be brought back to his ailing father, and Happy is chosen for the errand. His reluctant friend Rangeela is told to go with him, with the Panchayat paying their way. A mix-up over tickets at the airport puts the two of them in Egypt instead, where Happy meets Sonia, a lawyer who thinks criminals should be killed rather than reformed. He never gets to tell her what he feels before they go their separate ways.

- The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee asked Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit to ban Singh Is Kinng because the trailer showed Akshay Kumar's Sikh character with a trimmed beard, which their religious guidelines forbid; after negotiations the film was cleared on 7 August 2008.
- The odd extra "n" in the title Singh Is Kinng was no accident: the spelling of "king" was changed on the advice of a numerologist.
