Plot summary
Amadi lands in São Paulo, Brazil, with one task: find his brother Ikenna and take him back to Nigeria. Ikenna has broken every tie with the family, which the Igbo call being lost in transition. The brothers are opposites, Amadi laid-back and carefree, Ikenna driven by objectives. Amadi has his own stake in the search, because if Ikenna stays missing the eldest brother's mantle and the duty to provide for the family fall to him. In the unfamiliar city he follows his brother's faint traces, and in Emília, Ikenna's Brazilian ex-lover, he finds a reason to imagine a life in São Paulo instead.
