Winter Jonz
Biography
Winter Jonz is an Assyrian actor, previously credited as Tony Yalda, who was born in Beirut and grew up in Chicago after their family fled Lebanon and settled there. They studied theater at DePaul University and Roosevelt University, then dropped out in 2004 and went to Los Angeles. Posing as a messenger service to drop off pictures and resumes, they worked their way through casting offices until a 2005 role on The Comeback, the Lisa Kudrow series. A month later came American Dreamz (2006), followed by House Broken (2010) and The Taqwacores (2010), plus television work on Girlfriends, Help Me Help You and Roommates. Their band The Hollabacks won a 7-Eleven competition and had music in Cyrus, and they later recorded two albums with Michael Bland under the name Ladyboi, collected as Winter Jones, Volume I.
