Tommy Dysart

Biography

Tommy Dysart was a Scottish-born Australian actor who built a long career in television drama and comedy and in character parts on film. Born in Glasgow, he graduated from NIDA in 1959 and began as a vocalist and theater performer before moving into screen work. Early roles came in Skippy the Bush Kangaroo, Phoenix Five and the Crawford Productions police series Homicide, Division 4, Matlock Police and Cop Shop. He was best known for playing the cold prison officer Jock Stewart in Prisoner in the early 1980s, and went on to guest roles in dramas and sitcoms and parts in films including The Man from Snowy River (1982), Bliss (1985), Garbo (1992) and Flynn (1996). He also voiced Captain Griswald in the animated short The Mysterious Geographic Explorations of Jasper Morello (2005), and was widely remembered for Yellow Pages and Don Smallgoods commercials. He died in 2022.
