Thomas Wydler

Biography

Thomas Wydler is a Swiss drummer who has been a member of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds since 1985, when he joined and served as the group's only drummer for nearly a decade. Born in Zurich, he helped found the experimental German band Die Haut in 1982, whose debut album Burnin' the Ice arrived a year later with vocal contributions from Nick Cave. His recording debut with the Bad Seeds came on Kicking Against the Pricks (1986), and he has played on almost every album since. After Mick Harvey left in 2009, he became the band's longest-serving member behind Nick Cave. Besides drums, he provides backing vocals and sang a lead verse on the song Death Is Not the End from Murder Ballads. He also records as a solo artist, starting with a 2004 collaboration with Toby Dammit.
