The Lady Bunny

Lady Bunny is an American drag queen, comedian, actor, DJ, and event organizer who began in Atlanta's LGBTQ nightlife in the early 1980s. Born in Chattanooga, she moved to New York City in 1983 and performed at the Pyramid Club, developing a style that mixed lip sync, dance, and comedy. In 1985 she founded Wigstock, an annual drag festival that lasted until 2005 and was revived in 2018. Her films include Party Girl (1995), and in 2005 she took part as a roaster in a Comedy Central roast of Pamela Anderson. Between 2010 and 2012 she was a judge and the Dean of Drag on RuPaul's Drag U. She put out disco singles including Shame, Shame, Shame! and The Pussycat Song, and wrote and hosted the one-woman shows That Ain't No Lady! and Clowns Syndrome. Later credits include the 2019 documentary Wig and the 2021 satire NewsBeat, and she has toured internationally as a nightclub DJ.
