Tanya Tucker
Biography
Tanya Tucker is an American country singer from Seminole, Texas, whose first hit, Delta Dawn, came in 1972 when she was 13. She was one of the few teenage performers to keep her audience into adulthood, with many top-10 and top-40 country singles, among them What's Your Mama's Name, Blood Red and Goin' Down, Lizzie and the Rainman, Strong Enough to Bend and Two Sparrows in a Hurricane. The Country Music Association nominated her several times and named her Female Vocalist of the Year in 1991. Her 2019 record While I'm Livin' took the Grammy for Best Country Album, and Bring My Flowers Now earned her a share of the songwriting Grammy for Best Country Song. She had a small part in Jeremiah Johnson (1972) and is the subject of The Return of Tanya Tucker (2022). Her 2023 album Sweet Western Sound was made with Brandi Carlile, and that October she joined the Country Music Hall of Fame.
