Scott Kolk
Biography
Scott Kolk was an American actor and musician who performed in the 1920s and 1930s. Born in Baltimore, he considered Maine his home state. Before turning to acting, he worked as a professional musician, playing drums with orchestras on the Keith Circuit and with Meyer Davis's orchestra, and he introduced the Black Bottom dance to Washington, D.C., during an engagement at Club Chanticleer. He also sang and entertained at the Le Paradis supper club and led the first revue at the Silver Slipper. Actress Marion Davies saw him perform in Venice and encouraged him to try films, which led to screen tests at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and a role in her first sound film. He was most notable for All Quiet on the Western Front (1930) and for starring in the 12-part serial Secret Agent X-9 (1937). On Broadway, he played Lieutenant Dale in Take the Air (1928), and later appeared as George Armstrong in Baby Pompadour (1934). He died in 1993.
