Rocky Carroll
Biography
An American actor and director born in Cincinnati, Rocky Carroll began his career in the theater after studying at the School for Creative and Performing Arts and Webster University. He performed with Joe Papp's New York Shakespeare Festival and took on Shakespeare roles rarely played by Black actors, then appeared on Broadway in August Wilson's The Piano Lesson, earning a Tony and Drama Desk nomination. On television, he is known for playing Joey Emerson on Roc and Dr. Keith Wilkes on Chicago Hope, and for his role as NCIS Director Leon Vance on NCIS and its Los Angeles and New Orleans spin-offs. His film roles include Crimson Tide (1995), The Great White Hype (1996), Prelude to a Kiss (1992), The Chase (1994), Best Laid Plans (1999), The Ladies Man (2000), and Yes Man (2008). He has also directed episodes of NCIS.
