Richard Romanus
Biography
Richard Romanus was an American actor whose screen career included a role in Martin Scorsese's Mean Streets (1973) and voice work for two Ralph Bakshi animated features, Wizards (1977) and Hey Good Lookin' (1982). On television he played Richard La Penna in four episodes of The Sopranos shown between 1999 and 2002. He also wrote for the screen, co-scripting the Christmas film If You Believe in 1999; that script brought him a Writers Guild of America nomination for best original screenplay in long form television. In 2012 his book Act III reached the shortlist for the International Rubery Book Award. Richard Romanus, who was born in Barre in 1943, died in 2023.
