Raymond Bagatsing
Biography
Raymond Bagatsing is a Filipino actor who landed his first screen part at 16, while on vacation in Manila, as the young lead of a martial arts movie. He finished high school, returned to the city to act, and worked mostly in action pictures through the 1990s before moving toward dramatic roles late in the decade. That change of direction earned him Best Actor at the Asian Television Awards in Singapore in 2001 for the television drama Maale Ala Mo Kaya. He has wide martial arts training, from wing chun kung fu to aikido, and teaches acting and mixed martial arts in Manila when he is not filming, and is regarded as one of Manila's most sought-after acting talents and mentors. His films include Captive (2012), with Isabelle Huppert, directed by Brillante Mendoza, and the Spanish production 1898 Los Ultimos Filipinos (2016) opposite Luis Tosar.
