Ray Allen

Biography

Ray Allen is a former American professional basketball player who spent 18 seasons in the NBA and also acted in films. Born at Castle Air Force Base near Merced, California, he played three seasons of college basketball at Connecticut before being chosen fifth overall in the 1996 NBA draft. A ten-time All-Star who won an Olympic gold medal in 2000, he took NBA titles with the Boston Celtics in 2008 and the Miami Heat in 2013, and entered the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2018. He retired on November 1, 2016. His screen work included the basketball prodigy Jesus Shuttlesworth in Spike Lee's He Got Game (1998), which critics praised, and he also appeared as Marcus Blake in Harvard Man (2001).
