Qiu Yuen

Qiu Yuen is an actress and martial artist who trained in Chinese martial arts and Beijing opera at the Chinese Drama Academy's Beijing Opera School, studying under Yu Jim-yuen alongside Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung and Kam-Bo. Through the late 1960s and early 1970s she worked briefly as a stunt artist and a nightclub performer before stepping away from the screen. In 1974, at 24, she took a small part in the James Bond film The Man with the Golden Gun, playing a student who rescues Roger Moore. More than 28 years later she returned to Hong Kong's film business in Kung Fu Hustle (2004), the international hit directed by and starring Stephen Chow, who noticed her at an audition she had attended only to accompany a fellow graduate of the China Drama Academy, then persuaded her to take the role.
