Peter Breitmayer

Peter Breitmayer is an actor who was born in Arcadia, California, and grew up partly in Minnesota. He began his professional career in 1988 at Dudley Riggs BraveNew Workshop in Minneapolis, working as a company actor, writer, and improviser for three and a half years. He then spent eight years in Minneapolis-area theater, appeared in commercials, and took roles in locally shot Hollywood films, among them Drop Dead Fred (1991). After moving to Los Angeles in 1996, he worked regularly in television, film, commercials, and voiceover. His notable screen credits include A Serious Man (2009), The Changeling, Greys Anatomy, The Middle, NCIS, and the series Fargo, where he played Lt. Ben Schmidt. He is also known for playing Bill in the Progressive Insurance campaign. On stage, he acted in award-winning Los Angeles productions and toured with Triple Espresso, and he produced and appeared in Almost, Maine at the Hudson.
