Pamela Britton
Biography
Pamela Britton was an American actress who began performing as a child and became known for stage, film, and television work. Born in Milwaukee, she began in summer stock by age nine and auditioned professionally as a teenager. Her big break came in the original Broadway production of Oklahoma!, where she played Gertie and understudied the role of Ado Annie, later taking over that part on tour. She played Meg Brockie in Brigadoon on Broadway. On screen, her first major film role cast her as Frank Sinatra's girlfriend in Anchors Aweigh (1945), and she made her most significant film appearance in D.O.A. (1949). She also appeared in Watch the Birdie (1950) and, much later, If It's Tuesday, This Must Be Belgium (1969). On television, she starred as the title character in Blondie in 1957 and as Lorelei Brown in My Favorite Martian from 1963 to 1966, her signature role.
