Oana Pellea

Oana Pellea is a Romanian actress whose theater and film work has earned her many awards. Born in Bucharest in 1962, she trained at the Romanian Theatre and Film Academy. Her film credits include Where the Sun is Cold, directed by Bogdan Dreyer, and films by Alexandru Tatos, Dan Pita, and Stere Gulea. For her work in Gulea's State of Fact, she won Best Actress prizes at the Geneva Film Festival, the San Marino Political Film Festival, and Batumi, Georgia's Golden Eagle International Film Festival. On stage, she played Masha in Chekov's Three Sisters, Lucius in Shakespeare's Julius Ceasar, and Maria in Georg Bûchner's Woyzeck, roles that helped her win the International Theatre Critics' Best Actress award in 1996. Other stage parts include Julietta in Klaus Mann's Mephisto and Catarina in Mihai Maniutiu's The Taming of the Shrew. She received the UNITER Best Actress award and the prize for an outstanding international career from the Romanian Cultural Foundation.
