Nicola Stapleton
Biography
Nicola Stapleton is an English actress. Born in Southwark and raised in Walworth, south London, she trained at the Sylvia Young Theatre School and began working as a child, with early film work in Hansel and Gretel (1987) and Snow White (1987) and television work in Simon and the Witch. She became best known as Mandy Salter in EastEnders, a role she played from 1992 to 1994 and returned to in 2011 before leaving again in 2012. Her other television credits include Joe Nardone in Young Person's Guide to Becoming a Rock Star (1998), Janine Nebeski in Bad Girls (2005 to 2006), and Danielle Hutch in Emmerdale. She joined the voice cast of Thomas & Friends as Rosie in 2017. On stage she has appeared in Peter Pan and in productions at the National Theatre and the Royal Court Theatre, and she has provided voices for video games including Assassin's Creed Syndicate.

A first
Stapleton's EastEnders character appeared in Dimensions in Time, a 1993 Doctor Who special. Viewers voted by phone whether Mandy or 'Big' Ron would be in it, and the Mandy version took 56% of the vote.
Early training
Stapleton trained at the Corona Theatre School and Sylvia Young Theatre School, where her contemporaries included Denise Van Outen and future EastEnders co-stars Danniella Westbrook and Samantha Janus.
First role
Stapleton entered showbusiness at six years old. At eight, she appeared as a minor extra in the James Bond movie Octopussy, and her first television part came in 1985 on ITV's detective show Dempsey and Makepeace.
