Michelle Nicastro
Biography
Michelle Nicastro was an American actress and singer. Born in Washington, D.C., she studied at Northwestern University and in 1983 moved to Los Angeles. Her stage work included playing Ariadne in the Broadway musical Merlin, and she originated the role of Éponine in the second U.S. national tour of Les Misérables in 1988, which brought her a Drama-Logue Award and a Robby Award. On television she had guest roles in series such as Murder, She Wrote and Full House. For It's Garry Shandling's Show she contributed to writing a song and sang it, and she shared a CableACE Award for Best Original Song. She appeared in When Harry Met Sally... (1989). She provided the speaking voice of Princess Odette in The Swan Princess (1994), and returned for The Swan Princess: Escape from Castle Mountain (1997) and The Swan Princess III: The Mystery of the Enchanted Treasure (1998). She recorded soundtrack albums, beginning with Toonful.

A first
In 1988, Nicastro was the first to play Eponine in Les Miserables on the second U.S. national tour, which began in Los Angeles at the Shubert Theatre. She received the Drama-Logue Award and the Robby Award.
Big break
Nicastro won the speaking role of adult Princess Odette in The Swan Princess after director Richard Rich auditioned many actresses and found none with the princess sound he wanted, while Liz Callaway sang the part.
Behind the camera
Nicastro co-wrote and performed an original song, "He's Garry, The Boy Next Door", on a 1989 episode of It's Garry Shandling's Show, and shared the CableACE Award for Best Original Song.
Beyond film
Nicastro's first soundtrack album, Toonful, was a collection of songs from Disney animated films that she chose herself, and it earned her a recording contract with Varese Sarabande.
