Michael Spears

Michael Spears is an American actor who first gained national notice at thirteen as Otter in Dances with Wolves (1990). By seventeen he had appeared in television and film with actors such as Kevin Costner, Jimmy Smits, and Kim Delaney. His credits include a major role as Dog Star in the 2005 Steven Spielberg-produced miniseries Into the West, and in 2014 his performance as Tenkill in Angels in Stardust drew critical acclaim in The New York Times. Other roles include a cameo in 1883, Taylor Sheridan's Western, supporting parts in Reservation Dogs and 1923, and Sitting Bull in the History Channel docuseries Sitting Bull. He played Savanukah in Colonial Williamsburg's The Beloved Women of Chota: War Women of the Cherokee and has been a musical contributor to stage productions and festivals, performing in the Billings Symphony Orchestra's Buffalo Crossing. His awards include a 2012 Bronze Wrangler for Yellow Rock and a 1993 Young Artist Award nomination for The Broken Cord.
