Matt Day
Biography
Australian actor and filmmaker Matt Day began his screen career as a teenager after an agent spotted him at 14, and he made his first appearance in the ABC series c/o The Bartons before his breakout role in A Country Practice at 17. He has established a reputation as a leading Australian actor in film, television and theater, with TV credits including Rake, Tangle and the miniseries Paper Giants: The Birth of Cleo. His feature films include Muriel's Wedding (1994), Love and Other Catastrophes (1996) and Kiss or Kill (1997), the last bringing him Film Critics Circle and AFI Award nominations for Best Actor. He also appeared in Woody Allen's Scoop (2006) and the international television production And Starring Pancho Villa as Himself (2003). As a writer and director, he made short films such as Beat and Wish, and in 2017 he won the Tropfest short film festival for The Mother Situation, which he directed and acted in.
