Mary Hart

Biography

Mary Hart is an American television personality best known for hosting the syndicated entertainment news program Entertainment Tonight, which she led from 1982 until 2011. She grew up in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Denmark, and after winning the Miss South Dakota title in 1970 she placed among the semi-finalists at Miss America the following year. For two years she taught English at a Sioux Falls high school while also producing and anchoring her own talk show on KSFY-TV. She moved into full-time television in 1975, working at stations in Cedar Rapids, Omaha and Oklahoma City, where she co-hosted Dannysday. After a move to Los Angeles and a small part on Days of Our Lives, she co-hosted Regis Philbin's first national talk show, then joined Entertainment Tonight as a correspondent and quickly became its co-host. She later voiced Fairy Hart on The Fairly OddParents and played a version of herself on the sitcom Baby Daddy.
