Mariya Aronova

Mariya Aronova is a Russian actress who works in film and on stage and has also been a popular host of television shows. Born in 1972 in Dolgoprudny, a suburb of Moscow, she trained at the Shchukin Theatrical School of the Vakhtangov Theatre in Moscow under Vladimir Ivanov, graduating in 1994, and joined that theater's troupe the same year. Her best remembered stage parts included Mm. Pichem in Brecht's Threepenny Opera, Catherine the Great in Tsarskaya Okhota, and Pronya in Za dvumya zaitsami, which earned her the Crystal Turandot Award. In 1998 she created Kleanida in Molière's Amfitrion, a production that ran for nine seasons. She played Maria Moskaleva in Dostoyevsky's Dyadyushkin son, opposite Vladimir Etush, and the role brought her the State Prize of Russia. In 2004 she was named an Honorable Actress of Russia, and she has also received the Stanislavsky Prize.
