Biography

Marcelo Alonso is a Chilean actor who trained at the theater department of the University of Chile's arts faculty before making his television debut in 1994 in Champaña. Recurring roles followed across Chilean series, among them Los Pincheira, Los Capo, Corazón de María, Viuda Alegre and Los Exitosos Pells, and he played General Juan de Dios Vergudo in Conde Vrolok in 2009 and the villain Esteban Donoso in El Laberinto de Alicia in 2011. Later television work included Reserva de Familia, Socias, Vuelve Temprano and La Poseida, where he was Father Raimundo Zisternas. On film he appeared in Pablo Larraín's Post Mortem (2010), La Mujer de Iván, El Club (2015) and Neruda (2016). He has also acted in stage productions such as Ibsen's Casa de Muñecas and directed plays including Las Brutas and Madame de Sade, and he has taught at local universities.
