Madeleine Lebeau

Madeleine Lebeau was a French actress who worked in French and American films. Born in Antony in 1923, she took an uncredited role in the melodrama Young Girls in Trouble. Her Hollywood debut came in Hold Back the Dawn (1941), followed by the Errol Flynn picture Gentleman Jim (1942). That same year she played Yvonne, the mistress Humphrey Bogart's character discards, in Casablanca (1942), and she was the last surviving credited member of that cast. Further American credits included Paris After Dark (1943) and Music for Millions (1944), and she acted on Broadway in The French Touch, directed by René Clair. After World War II she returned to France and went on to make twenty further films, most of them French, among them Les Chouans (The Royalists, 1947), La Parisienne (1957) and Federico Fellini's 8½ (1963). Her final two pictures were Spanish productions from 1965. She died in 2016.
