Kim Gyngell

Kim Gyngell is an Australian actor and comedian who has worked in film, television and theater. Born in Melbourne in 1952, he came to acting only after a teacher at his secondary school put the idea to him. He won an Australian Film Institute award in 1988 for his supporting performance in Boulevard of Broken Dreams, and Heaven Tonight, from 1990, brought him an AFI nomination. His films include The Wog Boy, The Hard Word (2002), The Little Death (2014) and Brothers' Nest (2018). On television he created characters for The Comedy Company, among them Col'n Carpenter, who was given his own sitcom, and he was a regular on Full Frontal; his later credits include The Librarians, Very Small Business, Rake and Top of the Lake. He has acted with the Sydney Theatre Company and the Melbourne Theatre Company, and was a keyboard player in the Melbourne band Le Club Foote.
