Johnny Sands
Biography
Johnny Sands, an American film and television actor, appeared in more than a dozen movies and on TV before he left show business in 1971. Born in Lorenzo, Texas, he moved to Hollywood as a teenager and found work as a theater usher. A talent scout spotted him while he was on his way to the beach, and he picked his stage name out of a fondness for sand and surf. His first screen role came in Affairs of Geraldine (1946). He was perhaps best known as Shirley Temple's boyfriend, Jerry White, in The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer (1947), and he played the title part in Aladdin and His Lamp (1952). Other credits included The Stranger (1946) and Till the End of Time (1946), plus television programs like Perry Mason. A popular actor, he still received fan mail throughout his life.
