John Melendez
Biography
John Melendez is an American entertainer from Massapequa, New York. He became known on The Howard Stern Show, where he started as an intern in 1988 and remained until 2004, asking celebrities confrontational questions at press events. He moved to The Tonight Show with Jay Leno as its announcer and later wrote for The Jay Leno Show and the revived Tonight Show. He has hosted The Stuttering John Podcast since 2018. His screen credits include a role in Howard Stern's Private Parts and an appearance in Dude, Where's My Car? (2000). He co-hosted Last Call in 1995. He also appeared in the Off-Broadway production Tony n' Tina's Wedding and released a self-titled album on Atlantic Records in 1994. His book Easy for You to Say was published in 2018.

A role that slipped away
After appearing on The Tonight Show in 2003 to promote I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!, Melendez got an offer from Jay Leno to be the late-night show's New York correspondent. He said he declined it since he could not speak with Stern privately about it.
Own stunts
In a boxing match at Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, Melendez, at 175 pounds, won a unanimous decision over the 262 pound Cabbie. The fight went the distance.

Melendez signed with Atlantic Records in 1994 and released a self-titled album, with a music video that aired on MTV's Headbangers Ball.

Melendez also had a daily afternoon program on WXRK called Out to Lunch, airing from noon to 1 pm, which mostly played musical requests sent by e-mail. It was taped in 15 minutes, its email and phone requests were entirely fictional, and it was canceled on August 21, 2003.
