Biography

John Brascia was an American actor and dancer who was born in Fresno, California, and made his Broadway debut in the musical Hazel Flagg in 1953. That production's score came from Jule Styne and Bob Hilliard, and Robert Alton supervised and choreographed it, with Brascia taking home a Donaldson Award for his work. He partnered Vera-Ellen in White Christmas (1954), and in Meet Me in Las Vegas (1956) he danced with Cyd Charisse and Liliane Montevecchi. He also performed in The Magic Carpet Revue at the Dunes Hotel in Las Vegas, a 1955 show that starred Vera-Ellen and had a cast of 60. Beginning in 1967 he moved into non-dancing film roles, first in two Matt Helm movies with Dean Martin. His last such project was The Baltimore Bullet (1980), which he produced and helped write, earning credit for its story and screenplay. He died in 2013.
