Joel Tobeck
Biography
Joel Tobeck is a New Zealand actor born into an acting family in Auckland, who first stepped on stage at five with his mother, Liddy Holloway. With a grounding in theater that covered Shakespeare and musicals, he built a screen career of nearly two dozen films, moving between whimsical comedy, intense drama and horror in New Zealand and Australia. He won Best Actor for Topless Women Talk About Their Lives at the 1997 NZ Film and TV Awards. On television he appeared in the Xena: Warrior Princess, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and Young Hercules series, This Is Not My Life and Underbelly: Land of the Long Green Cloud, and guest starred in American shows including Sons of Anarchy, The Glades, Hawaii Five-0, and Without a Trace. He led the Australian drama Tangle and comedy :30 Seconds and was nominated for Most Outstanding Performance by an Actor in 2010. He also sang and played guitar and did voice work.
