Jeff Beck

Biography

Jeff Beck was an English guitarist who first gained notice with the Yardbirds, joining in 1965, and later led the Jeff Beck Group and the trio Beck, Bogert and Appice. Born in Wallington, Surrey, he played guitar in the 1966 Michelangelo Antonioni film Blow-Up. In 1975 he moved toward instrumental music, and his albums Blow by Blow and Wired blended blues rock, hard rock and jazz fusion. Critics praised his work, and he won the Grammy for Best Rock Instrumental Performance six times, with eight Grammys overall. In 2014 the British Academy honored him with an Ivor Novello Award for his impact on British music. He entered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, once with the Yardbirds in 1992 and again as a solo artist in 2009.
