Jasmine Guy
Biography
Jasmine Guy is an American actress who is best known for her role as Whitley Gilbert on the sitcom A Different World, which ran from 1987 to 1993. Born in Boston and raised in Atlanta, she attended the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center. She began her television career as a dancer on Fame in 1982, and later won NAACP Image Awards for her work on A Different World, where she also wrote and directed episodes. Her film debut came in Spike Lee's School Daze (1988), and she appeared in Harlem Nights (1989). On television she played Roxy Harvey on Dead Like Me and its sequel film Dead Like Me: Life After Death (2009), and Sheila Bennett on The Vampire Diaries. Her stage work includes Beehive, The Wiz, Grease, and Chicago, and she directed productions such as I Dream and The Colored Museum. She released a self-titled album in 1990.
