James McEachin

James McEachin was an American actor and author who began performing after serving in the Korean War. Born in Rennert, North Carolina, he worked as a contract actor for Universal in the 1960s and was regularly cast in professional roles, among them lawyers and police commanders, and guested on series such as Hawaii Five-O, The Rockford Files and Matlock. His films included Play Misty for Me (1971), in which he played a deejay, Buck and the Preacher (1972), Fuzz (1972), The Groundstar Conspiracy (1972), Every Which Way but Loose (1978) and 2010: The Year We Make Contact (1984). In 1973 he starred as the title character of the short-lived detective series Tenafly, and from 1986 to 1995 he played Police Lieutenant Brock in more than a dozen Perry Mason television movies. He later wrote a military history, Farewell to the Mockingbirds, which won the 1998 Benjamin Franklin Award, along with several novels, and directed the short Old Glory.
