Biography

Hannah Spearritt is an English singer and actress who was born in Great Yarmouth in 1981 and started on stage as a child, appearing in an amateur production of Annie at twelve and later training with the National Youth Music Theatre and performing in the West End musical Bugsy Malone. In 1998 she auditioned for S Club and became an original member of the group, which scored four UK number one singles and a number one album and won two BRIT Awards and a Record of the Year award. She moved into screen acting with roles in Agent Cody Banks 2: Destination London (2004) and Seed of Chucky (2004). On television she played Abby Maitland in the science-fiction drama Primeval from 2007 to 2011, Mercedes Christie in Casualty in 2016, and Kandice Taylor in EastEnders from 2017 to 2018. She also appeared in the West End production of One Man, Two Guvnors in 2012.

First role
At 12, Spearritt got a role in Annie with the Lowestoft Players amateur dramatics society. After that, she tried out for the National Youth Music Theatre and was accepted into the company.
Big break
Spearritt joined S Club in 1998 after an audition. Over the five years the group was together, it recorded four studio albums, put out eleven singles, topped the UK charts with four singles and one album, and sold more than fourteen million albums worldwide.
Beyond film
On S Club's albums, Spearritt took the lead on tracks such as "Dance Dance Dance" and "Hey Kitty Kitty", and the second of those also served as a promotional single for Sunny Delight.
Big break
In 2006, Spearritt landed the lead role of Abby Maitland in the ITV series Primeval, playing a reptile enthusiast mixed up with a time traveling professor.
