Gerald Berns

Gerald Berns is an American actor and screenwriter who began his stage work in the resident company of the Boston Repertory Theatre, staying five years and appearing in more than twenty productions. Born in Brookline, Massachusetts, and raised in Newton, he originated the Rockman in the first staging of Harry Nilsson's musical The Point and played Kroner in the premiere of Kurt Vonnegut Jr.'s Player Piano. He later appeared in television, commercials, and feature films, and his Beverly Hills Cop character was satirized in MAD Magazine. In Los Angeles, Berns acted in Outward Bound at the Hudson Backstage and in Sam Shepard's True West at Ojai's Theatre 150, which Shepard considered one of the best productions he had seen. Berns also writes screenplays, and in 2015 and 2016 several of his scripts, some co-written, won more than a dozen festival honors, including Silver Awards at the Oregon International Film Awards two years in a row.
