Dragan Bjelogrlic
Biography
Dragan Bjelogrlic, born in 1963, is a Serbian actor, director, and producer who moved from Opovo to Belgrade as a teenager. He made his screen debut at 14 in the 1978 film Bosko Buha, playing Sava Jovanovic Sirogojno, and later took other television and film roles. By the middle of the 1980s he had become a well-known young actor in SFR Yugoslavia. In 1985 he joined the ensemble of Bal na vodi. Two years later he became a central cast member of the popular drama series Bolji zivot as Boba Popadic, which turned him into a widely recognized star. His casting as a gangster or criminal type included Rane (The Wounds), in which he played a hot-headed Serbian mafioso. Montevideo, God Bless You!, his 2010 film, became Serbia's candidate in the Best Foreign Language Film race at the 84th Academy Awards, though it was not shortlisted. A follow-up, See You in Montevideo, came in 2014.
