Biography

Dot-Marie Jones is an American actress and retired athlete with many television credits. Born in Turlock, California, and raised in Hilmar, she first made her name in strength sports, winning 15 world arm wrestling titles. A bodybuilding competition led to her discovery by Shirley Eson, who encouraged her to try out for Knights and Warriors; she won a role as one of the show's few female warriors. After that series ended, she worked in small television parts through the 1990s and 2000s and entered features in the late 1990s with the cult film The Boondock Saints (1999). Her recurring role as Dot on Married... with Children came next, followed by Coach Kelly on Lizzie McGuire and Butch Brenda in Material Girls. She later appeared in Nip/Tuck, Desperate Housewives, and Prison Break. On Glee she played Coach Beiste, a guest role that became a starring one in the final season, and earned Primetime Emmy nominations in 2011, 2012, and 2013.
