Biography

Dorothy Green was an American actress who worked in theater, film, and television. Born in Los Angeles in 1920, she began performing after training with a drama coach at the Manhattan Playhouse, where she first played Irene in Light Up the Sky. She got her first professional television job in 1953 on The Jack Benny Program, and appeared that year in the film noir The Big Heat (1953). Green became known for supporting roles in many TV series from the early 1950s to the 1980s, including Gunsmoke, Perry Mason, and Wagon Train. Her films included The Helen Morgan Story (1957), Face of a Fugitive (1959), Man-Trap (1961), It Happened at the World's Fair (1963), and Suppose They Gave a War and Nobody Came? (1970). From 1973 she played Jennifer on The Young & the Restless for four years. Her final credited television appearance was in 1997 on Exhibit A: Secrets of Forensic Science.

Early training
Green trained with a drama coach for a few months before her first stage role, Irene in the Manhattan Playhouse production of Moss Hart's Light Up the Sky.
First role
Green landed her first professional television job in April 1953, on a live Jack Benny Program broadcast. She played an office secretary in a sketch alongside Benny and guest star Fred Allen.
