Dominick Dunne

Dominick Dunne was an American producer who became a writer and investigative journalist. Born in Hartford, Connecticut, he graduated from Williams College and moved to New York City, where he worked as a television stage manager. Humphrey Bogart brought him to Hollywood for the television version of The Petrified Forest, and he later worked on Playhouse 90 and served as a vice president of Four Star Television. He produced The Boys in the Band, a pioneering gay film, in 1970, and The Panic in Needle Park (1971), then turned to writing in the early 1970s. He became a frequent contributor to Vanity Fair, wrote bestselling novels based on real events, and hosted the Court TV series Dominick Dunne's Power, Privilege, and Justice. The documentary Dominick Dunne: After the Party (2008) traced his Hollywood years. He died in 2009.
