David Rappaport
Biography
David Rappaport was an English actor who worked in children's television, film and on stage. Born in London, he studied psychology at the University of Bristol, where he acted in the university dramatic society. He came to public notice in 1979 playing an O-Man in the BBC children's show Jigsaw, and in the early 1980s he played Shades on the Saturday-morning programs Tiswas and The Saturday Show. One of his most popular roles was Randall, the leader of a gang of dwarves, in Terry Gilliam's Time Bandits (1981). He played a circus dwarf in The Bride (1985), took the lead as Simon McKay in the CBS series The Wizard from 1986 to 1987, and played the trial lawyer Hamilton Schuyler in two episodes of L.A. Law. He also supplied the voice of MAL for Captain Planet and the Planeteers, and performed on stage aboard the Old Profanity Showboat in Bristol. He died in 1990.
