Clarice Blackburn

Clarice Blackburn was an American actress and writer who came to prominence playing three characters on the cult soap opera Dark Shadows. Born in San Francisco and raised in several states, she earned a degree in speech and drama from the Texas State College for Women and studied acting at HB Studio. She made her professional debut in The Circle of Chalk in 1947 and later appeared on Broadway in Desk Set (1955), Juno (1959) and The Miracle Worker (1961), winning an Obie Award for performance in Good Day. She worked in daytime television, with roles on The Doctors, The Secret Storm, Where the Heart Is, One Life to Live, As the World Turns and Guiding Light. She wrote for Love of Life and was on the All My Children writing staff that twice won the Daytime Emmy for drama series writing. Her film credits included Pretty Poison (1968), Man on a Swing (1974) and Night of Dark Shadows (1971).
