Cindy Baer

An American actress, director, producer, and entrepreneur, Cindy Baer works in independent, often female-centric film. Born in Boston, she began acting at 14 with the Boston Children's Theatre and has appeared in more than two dozen plays. Her feature directing and producing debut, Purgatory House (2001), was a micro-budget project written by 14-year-old Celeste Davis; it used digital mini-DV cameras, home computers for editing, and extensive visual effects. The film screened at 25 festivals, won 12 festival awards, earned two PRISM Award nominations, and reached distribution through Image Entertainment in 2007. Baer's second feature, Odd Brodsky (2014), a comedy, played 29 festivals and won 20 awards. She also founded Free Dream Pictures, The Mosaic Theatre company, Patron of the Arts, and Daizy the Clown & Company, and starred in and produced a 30th anniversary staging of Butterflies Are Free.
